With a 20-city tour all but in the books, Chicago-based rapper Polo G made one final stop at The Novo in Los Angeles before wrapping up his ‘Die A Legend‘ Tour at Rolling Loud Festival in the Bay Area this coming Sunday.
The 20-year-old is having quite the 2019—he released his first studio album ‘Die A Legend’ in June which featured his chart-topping hit with Lil Tjay ‘Pop Out.’ If that wasn’t enough, the rapper also had a performance at massive music festival Lollapalooza in his hometown. The beginning of Polo’s career couldn’t have unraveled any better.
Most recently (Sept. 20 to be exact), Polo G just dropped a new joint dubbed ‘Heartless,’ in collaboration with Mustard, who’s been a dominant force in the hip-hop industry for the past decade.
As for the LA show, Polo didn’t disappoint, performing all the bangers off of his recent album: ‘Through Da Storm,’ ‘Dyin Breed’ and of course, closing the night out with ‘Pop Out.’ Polo’s sound isn’t the type to trigger rage and mosh pits, but his melodies and lyrics clearly illustrate his upbringing in the projects with a chill vibe, intimately making music that many of his fans can relate to.
Other notable performances:
In addition to Lil Capalot, openers included up-and-coming artist Lil Poppa, one of Interscope Records’ most recent signings. The ‘Under Investigation’ rapper came out dripped in Bape (from head to toe, I might add) and gave a teaser to the LA crowd of his potential.
Main headliner Luh Kel, who is already making noise at the tender age of 17, brought out a similar style to Polo: chill melodies. Luh Kel is known for his single ‘Wrong,’ which peaked at 37 on the Billboard’s hip-hop charts.
During Luh Kel’s time on stage, Ambjaay, whose biggest single ‘Uno,’ made a pit stop during the set as well. Ambjaay is also signed to Columbia Records, just like Polo.
The last surprise of the night came from Sacramento’s Mozzy, who popped out (no pun intended) to show support for Polo and give the fans some of their own medicine: a taste of the West Coast.
Crazy enough, Polo G stayed on his grind, catching a flight to perform in London just two days later in the same attire. Per his Instagram, Polo said, ‘ I jus rocked a Sold Out Show in London in the same shit I wore yesterday.’
Polo G will be hitting the Rolling Loud stage this weekend in San Francisco to top off his elusive tour. It’s a great way end to what was a wildly successful 2019 for Polo and possibly a sign of things to come for the young rapper.
