Meek Mill, Jay-Z, and Others Strive to Fix the Criminal Justice System by Launching ‘Reform Alliance’

Meek Mill, Jay-Z, and others are using their platforms to fight injustice with the launch of a criminal justice organization.

Criminal justice reform has become a huge hot topic today and some of the most powerful voices in the sports, music, and entertainment industries are taking the initiative to resolve the injustice within our corrupt system.

Leading the pack are Jay-Z and Meek Mill, in addition to Van Jones, Philadelphia 76ers owner Michael Rubin, Brooklyn Nets co-owner Clara Wu Tsai, Patriots owner Robert Kraft, and others. Together they’re launching a criminal justice organization called Reform Alliance.

Reform Alliance’s mission is to “[advance] criminal justice reform and [eliminate] outdated laws that perpetuate injustice, starting with probation and parole.”

Meek Mill and Jay-Z have been the face of this movement and huge advocates for criminal justice reform, especially following the public spectacle of Meek’s re-imprisonment in November 2017. His wrongful sentence incited the #FreeMeek movement supported by his fans and fellow supporters in the industry, including Jay-Z.

After serving his 5-month stint, he had a newfound purpose to be the voice for a voiceless people. Creating this organization is his way of giving back to those who stood up for him during his dark days.
