Inglewood’s Collin Terrell aims to be at the forefront of a movement that allows black men to be unabashedly self-aware and conscious individuals. His latest release, “In Transit,” inspired during his public transit rides throughout the city, expresses his struggle to maintain peace of mind while observing social inequalities over a minimalist, lullaby-induced production. Off of his debut 6-track EP, Melancholy Cool, the track encompasses “the fear, hopefulness, determination, and frustration of someone that is always on to the next achievement, seldom stopping to revel in their accomplishments.” The powerful track not only sparks important dialogue but also touches on social mobility, belonging and the quest we all embark on to get where we want to get in life given the cards we are dealt.
