Ahead of his debut EP No Pawns, rising Detroit rapper MCXI shows off his rap skills in “Snakes and Ladders.” In the EP MCXI lays out the rap game in terms of a chess match where the industry tries to corner in the king/artist into surrendering their originality in exchange for praise and attention. MCXI refuses to change his style and with music as good as this, he does not pretend to be anything he isn’t and he refuses to change who is for the music industry. MCXI likens the music industry to a game of chess where the industry tried to corner in the king/artist into surrendering their originality in exchange for praise and attention from record labels. MCXI is all about bringing his own artistic expression to life and with songs like “Snakes and Ladders.” The song is the first single from MCXI’s debut EP No Pawns set to be released later this year.
