Back To His Roots

The Weeknd breaks us off with a new EP after dropping hints all over Instagram. My Dear Melancholy is six tracks long with only one feature, French techno artist, Gesaffelstein. This project is reminiscent of his beginnings of brooding melodies from House Of Balloons. The Weeknd captivated us all from the start because of his ability to help us tap into our indulgent nature. Sex, lust, drugs and more coated his first album, The Trilogy: a culmination of his first three mixtapes.

My Dear Melancholy is a path parallel to the sounds the beginning of his career. Even in the album art, he returns to a veil of anonymity only showing a portion of his face. The difference this time around is condensing all of these themes into one project. However, love and heartache knows no bounds so who’s to say that the buck stops here? My Dear Melancholy is available for streaming on Apple Music, listen below.
