Hailing from Chicago, IL., Lulu Be isn’t your average chick. With an Ethiopian background infused with the heart of a city kid, this helped curate Lulu Be’s authentic sound of what we know as, ‘AfroHop.’ Combining the elements of afrobeat, Chicago house/juke, and hip-hop, topped with her lyrical flow, Lulu Be brings to us her four-track EP, Lululand. Produced solely by Lanre, Lulu describes her debut effort simply as, “a vibe.”
It’s an introduction to my world, my sound, and my culture … It combines all the elements of my favorite sounds; dance hall, afrobeats, Chicago juke, vogue house and hiphop. I want people to listen with an open mind and accept the different layers of hiphop.
