The great Minnesota meetup also known as the music festival Soundset took place on May 28th of 2017 at the Minnesota Fair Grounds, curated by a local and independent record label Rhymesayers. With an attendance of 35,000+ people and headliners such as Gucci Mane, Travis Scott, Ms.Lauryn Hill, Pusha T, Denzel Curry, Playboi Carti and a handful of more artist you most likely have been dying to see, people came in from all over the country to witness the biggest one-day festival in the Midwest and arguably the biggest one-day festival in the country. Although artists such as Mac Miller, Lil Uzi Vert and Kevin Gates couldn’t make it, everyone who attended still had a great time with the fully stacked lineup which took about 10 hours and 4 stages for everyone to perform.
At Soundset you can expect a wide variety of people attending as both old-heads, new-heads, hippies and just anyone who likes music in general see some of their favorite artists as the lineup was so diverse it varied all the way from Playboi Carti to E-40 to Modsun. Overall, my first time at the one-day festival was great, aside from Lil Uzi Vert, Kevin Gates and Mac Miller not being able to make it, I still got to see some of my favorite artists who have never been to Minnesota recently or just at all. The weather was great, the vibes were good and the people attending were welcoming, proving that “Minnesota nice” is more than just a saying.
