Today (May 4), Kodak Black (Dieuson Octave) appeared in a Florida courtroom to get the final verdict on his violation of probation.
Kodak Black will spend 364 days in Broward County Jail. Now, the sentencing could be lessened as time progresses, but for the time being, it stands by the ruling of Prosecutor Merideth Hough and Judge Michael Lynch. Kodak was found guilty on five-of-six counts.
Kodak spoke, his mom, Godmother and a label rep from Atlantic Records spoke out on behalf.
“Depending on the outcome of this case, it can be the beginning of my career, or the end of my career,” Kodak said in his statement to the judge. “I know the fact my life is in your hands right now.”
“Kushner from Atlantic Records says the label is willing to hire a full-time mentor and advisor to give Kodak Black guidance/structure,” as was tweeted by Brett Clarkson of The Sun Sentinel.
The judge agreed that Kodak isn’t a threat to his community and others, which was emphasized by those who spoke on the Florida rapper’s demeanor and behavior.
So as it stands, Kodak Black will spend a year in jail.
UPDATE: sentencing can lessened if Kodak completes life skills course in jail… he’ll be out in about a month. Let’s hope that gets completed.
