The irony that my father and I were just talking about the seriousness of Lupus– the inflammatory disease that affects over 200,000 people in the U.S. Lunging away from the irony, I immediately felt sympathy for Nick Cannon, and there’s no cure for the disease. But there is treatment.

Cannon is the first person in his family to have the disease, but with research and a proper diet, he’s optimistic on moving forward with life.

“When you hear the words ‘autoimmune disease’ or ‘lupus,’ it’s like, ‘Whoa, what is that?’” he said. “That’s how I felt, and that’s how my family and friends felt as well…. But you realize it’s something that you can live with and actually overcome with the proper research and with the proper support system.”

Nick will be “back to normal” before New Year, bringing some calm to the storm. Get well Mr. Cannon.
